Study Program Information

The Department of French Language Education is one of the Faculty of Languages and Arts departments, Yogyakarta State University. This department was founded in 1976 as the Department of Foreign Language Education with the French Language Education Study Program. The first graduates were awarded an associate degree (Sarjana Muda). In 1980, the Department of French Language Education, Faculty of Languages and Arts Education, Yogyakarta Institute of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences, was switched to the Bachelor level (S1). Along with the time, the Yogyakarta Institute of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences was transformed into Yogyakarta State University, and the Department of French Language Education also grew and developed to be more mature. In the learning process, starting in 2014, the Department of French Language Education implemented the Indonesian Qualification Framework-based curriculum, and at the same time applied the actionnelle approach, i.e., task and action-based language teaching based on the general framework of reference for European standard learning (cadre Européen Commun de Référence pour la langue). The Department of French Language Education also collaborates with several other universities at home and abroad to improve the quality of education. These universities include; UPI, UNIMED, UNJ, UNNES, Naresuan University, L’universite de Poitier, etc.
